Vaginal Dryness & Atrophy

You may have expected some "hot" moments in your menopause journey. But inflammation or dryness? If "down there" just doesn't feel like it used to, you're not alone. As a result of menopause, a decline in estrogen levels can cause dryness in and around the vagina. Symptoms of vaginal dryness can include itching, burning, and irritation. Another symptom associated with menopause is called vaginal atrophy. Vaginal atrophy includes narrowing and shortening of the vagina, symptoms you may not even be able to feel. But, for some, if not treated, vaginal atrophy can worsen over time. Although these symptoms may be uncomfortable to discuss with your doctor at first, it's important to have open communication with your healthcare provider to make sure you’re getting the information and help you need throughout your menopause journey.
